The # of people in line is based on a tally of all reports (from people like you) in the last 60 minutes. Should the recent votes be weighted? Probably. Will enough people contribute to make this usable? Who knows. Are there any safeguards in place to make sure people are actually at the venue and that the entries aren't spam? Not particularly. It might be hard to get critical mass on this, but I think it's cool, and the functionality is there if anybody wants to update it now and then through the weekend!
